A few years back, I followed tons of blogs. This was when barely anyone knew what Pinterest was. So in order to get amazing ideas, diy's, inspiration, recipes, etc.....one had to search the many talented and diverse blogs out there. I was a fan. Loved it. So much in fact, I thought.....hmmmm, maybe I should make one! But would anyone know I existed? Would anyone actually care?? Would anyone read it?
Well, to my surprise YES, many did! It was so much fun to share and create ideas. It helped me stay motivated to get little projects done, as I was excited to share, and get feedback. It's a truly beautiful little community.
I also had the goal of potentially having my house featured on a "HOUSE PROUD" segment on the Nate Berkus show, that aired at the time. I thought maybe if I post enough, finish enough projects....etc, etc.....I could submit an application. But to my massive surprise, within 2 mths of starting my blog.....the Nate Berkus show contacted me! Say what?! So flattering. So, of course, I got to fly to New York, meet Nate, have my home featured, and do a cool diy segment on his show! I was crazy, sick nervous, but it was such an amazing experience.
I came home and went back to blogging. It was still really fun. But, if I'm being honest....it became a bit of a chore. I felt like I couldn't balance my work (photographer), my 3 kids, my husband, my projects, my blogging, fit in time for exercise and friends and just the normal stuff. So, after about 9 or 10 mths, I just quite cold turkey. Thought I'd take a few months off. Thought I'd get back to it. Didn't want to delete it or decide for sure it was done.....didn't want to make it final. But, eventually I just decided blogging wasn't for me. Realized I had accomplished my original goal, which was the Nate Berkus segment! I wasn't blogging for money, so figured it didn't serve it's purpose anymore.
Over the last 2 years that I've been M.I.A, I've gotten tons of emails and had tons of comments from followers asking where I've been? Will I return? Tons of people still asking me decorating advice, asking about specific paint colors, asking if I still like my white hardwood floor, etc, etc!
It's been really surprising and flattering that so many people followed my little blog along the way and actually missed me!!
So, while I'm still not ready to blog again and not sure that I ever will be....I just wanted to address this in a post to answer the questions in one dose!
No, I will not be answering decorating questions or responding to comments. I don't often read them, so I wouldn't be responding in a timely fashion. It's just easier to say I won't, then to disappoint and annoy people!
What have I been doing? Work, family, friends, life.... The same as the rest of you! My photography business is still doing great and keeps me working full time for about 60% of the year and part time for another chunk and then I typically get a couple months of winter off, which is awesome!
Have I been working on my house still? Yes of course. Just because I don't document it, doesn't mean I'm a different person! Still diy's, projects, repainting, refinishing....changed out my hardwood, created a pallet wall....etc, etc.... I would love to share it with you all one day, and maybe I will! Just not sure at the moment, so don't want to commit.
Recently, since I get my winter's off of work....I did start fooling around with a small business idea. That of creating baby moccasins. I see them popping up everywhere and they're simply adorable. So, once again, my diy brain got to thinkin'.....I could do that! So just this past Friday, as in 2 day's ago, I decided to launch a little online shop!
TIGER LILY MOCASINS
Check out my site if you have little ones!! At the moment I'm only shipping within Canada, but plan on adding International shipping very soon!
Here's an example of my moccs!
Follow me on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/tigerlilymoccasins
Or on my Instagram account, where you'll learn about giveaways, new colors/styles, and announcents!
So for now, that's all I wanted to ramble on about! Thanks for reading, for all the support over the years and for wanting me back!
Until next time......

well, it happens every fall. i finish editing weddings and i start to think about my house again and all the things on my "to do" list. last week, i was sitting in my living room, looking across at my kitchen and decided i hated looking at my microwave. although, i really like my kitchen, i would do it completely different, had i the chance to start over. but with the budget we had at the time, and the existing layout, we couldn't do much at the time.
one thing, i never liked, was staring at the microwave :(
so my brain got to thinkin'
what if we pulled it out, stuck it in one of the large pantry cabinets, and created a display shelf in the process???!!
fabulous idea, i think :)
so, we went from this:
nice right? i was originally wanting to add glass doors, but haven't made the trip to IKEA yet! not sure what options they'll have in the size and finishes i want, but at least, i don't hate it exposed either!
we have a large pantry cabinet next to this microwave cabinet, which was in serious need of decluttering/organizing....so....the microwave has moved into this space...
all we had to do, was remove the doors, line the back of the cabinet with some leftover wallpaper, and voila!!
we have to figure out some way to plug the hole in the cabinet, as we needed that originally for the microwave cord....
now time to buy new wine glasses, b/c i'm missing some and these aren't so pretty anymore! :)
a great way to add some visual interest, hide a not-so-pretty element, and repurpose an exisiting space for NO MONEY - love that!

i stumbled across this recipe on the front page of msn a month or so back. it's from
i thought it sounded delicious and very fall/winter like, so i tried it out. i have to say it didn't disappoint. i love when a recipe is actually as good as it sounds and as the picture looks!
felt, i better share!
CHEWY MOLASSES-SPICE COOKIE RECIPE
- preheat oven to 350'
- in a med bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp bkg soda, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1/2 tsp salt
- with an electric mixer, beat 3/4 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until combined
- beat in 1 egg and then 1/4 cup molasses
- reduce speed to low, gradually mix in dry ingredients, just until a dough forms
- roll dough into balls, approx 1 tablespoon. roll balls in shallow dish containing approx 1/4 cup sugar. coat evenly
- arrange balls on baking sheets. bake one sheet at a time. bake 10 - 12 mins.
you can bake two sheets at a time but they will not 'crack' uniformly
sooooo good, crispy on the edges and soft and chewy on the inside.....do NOT overbake

so sorry, i've been missing in action here the last week and a half! life gets busy sometimes and unfortunately blogging can take the backseat.....
but, i wanted to remind you all of the giveaway i have going on still, by
my lovely sponsor is:
so, what have i been up to you ask? not an exciting answer....just work, kids, etc!
our wedding season for shooting has come to an end now, so i'm just trying to finish up editing as quickly as i can, so i can devote myself to all the 'stuff' i put on the back burner for the summer/fall.
i want to paint my bathroom, and my entrance!
something along these lines, for my bathroom...

check out this lovely zebra rug from west elm!
i decided i really needed a big area rug in my living room and this was going to be it! of course we only have one west elm in canada. and it's not calgary. of course they won't ship rugs from their online store. so i call the store directly. of course, they don't have the largest size i want. they do have a slightly smaller one, which would work too. but of course, they're out of stock. so now i'm on a waiting list for about a month! :(
but so pretty, it'll be worth the wait, i think!
i also need/want to get out of my boring cooking routine! my sister in law has this book, (i think) and she's always making something amazing looking....so i might copy her!
as well, it's now chilly in our part of the world :(
we have a little dusting of the white stuff in a few spots still!
i like this pic above, but don't worry, we're not looking quite like that YET!
however, the weather is a little more bearable when you've booked your winter vacation!
this year, we're headed to hawaii, with some friends! we're trying out the big island, b/c we've never been there before!
i can't wait! however, i'm going with a lot of very skinny friends! so i've been working by butt off for the last 3 weeks! unfortunately, not really feeling/seeing any differences yet! honestly, it's blood, sweat and tears for every ounce i lose!
oh well, i'll just keep at it....sigh!
can you sense my frustration?!
and last but not least, yesterday, i decided to go through my closet and make a little room, by doing some decluttering. i decided to follow the rule, "if you haven't woren something in the last year, then toss it or donate it"
seriously felt so good.....so much more room and 3 bags to donate....phew!
that whole thing about how most of us wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time is super accurate with me, so why hold on to old stuff, right?
not to mention, you then actually can see and remember all that you have and "wear" more of your clothes, b/c they're accessible!
i recommend it!
ok friends, like i said....no fabulous 'home' post, just some ramblings....
